8 Ways to Make Christmas 2023 Your Merriest Christmas Ever

Dec 22, 2023

Woop woop, it’s nearly Christmas!

Here’s 8 Ways to Make Christmas 2023 Your Merriest Christmas Ever

  1. Laughter really is the best medicine (see last week’s blog for more on that!). Christmas can be a real mixed bag of emotions as we know and there doesn’t always feel like there is a lot to laugh about, yet with a little poking, a little prodding, a little tickle here and a little chuckle there, we can elevate our own mood and (sometimes) the mood of others. If you’ve got something super serious and intense going on, firstly, I’m sorry to hear that, because that stuff sucks, and secondly, a little chuckle or giggle here and there is important just to break through that tension, we all need relief, and so do you.

  2. Beat the festive season blues with happy tunes to dance to, the geekier the better: Kylie Minogue Locomotion, Abba Dancing Queen or just some good old favourites Status Quo Rockin’ All Over The World, Slade Gudbuy T Jane and their own fab Christmas song, Skyhooks, Blondie, Jimmy Barnes, T-Rex, Sweet……pick your favourites!

  3. Be adventurous; go out and have some fun somewhere and do one thing you’ve always wanted to do, especially if it’s something that scares the pants off of you, you will feel so exhilarated and invincible after it.

  4. Get your body moving; it’s the fastest way to a happy mood and renewed energy; skip, walk, strength training, going to the beach, visiting the mountains, anything that gets your thoughts out in the open, your body moving and the endorphin's pumping.

  5. Be choosy about the food and drink you consume; It all looks super delicious and there is certainly an abundance throughout the festive season, but have you noticed that it’s all dead food? Sweets, fried foods, crisps, dips, soft drinks, alcohol…it’s an endless parade of marketing made reality as everyone thinks it all equals pleasure, happiness and celebration. In reality it all equals sugar highs and lows, uneven moods, unhappy bodies, lethargy, hangovers, and constipation. You’re worth so much more than all of that.

  6. Be playful; Whatever you're doing and whoever you're with, look for ways to be playful. Allow playful thoughts, stay open, be curious, step back, let out that breathe you're holding and simply laugh out loud, it will change your mood in an instant.

  7. If you're alone through the festive season, think about how you can turn that time to your advantage; it's a good time to do something you’ve been putting off all year. Perspective is everything, it might just be the ideal time to start that “Insert Your Big Idea” project you’ve been thinking about?

  8. If you do want more social time and people in your life; Look through your address book and start phoning people, make coffee dates, have conversations, be confident to let them know you’d like to hang out this Christmas or find somewhere to volunteer and get your happy feelings giving someone else a happy Christmas.

Show your individuality and create a Christmas that means something good to you, a Christmas you love and enjoy.
