We’ve been sold the idea that health should be easy, fast, and effortless. 

 

That’s why “lite and easy” dinners, magic shakes, powders, and pills rake in billions….because we all want the dream without the effort, I know I did. 

 

If there’s one thing I’ve learned after 25 years caught in the cycle of losing weight, regaining it, and starting over again, it’s this

 

  • The food you eat is the first domino in a chain of events that shapes everything else. 
  • It’s not just about your waistline. It’s about how you feel, think, and act for the rest of the day
  • The right foods can fuel you. The wrong ones can derail you by triggering mood swings, brain fog, stress, cravings, restless sleep, and a cascade of health problems, from allergies to heart disease. 

 

Why Food Is So Damn Tricky 

 

We’re swimming in an environment designed to make eating well feel like a steeplechase—one hurdle after another

  • Fast food on every corner. 
  • Home delivery in minutes. 
  • Advertising that sells desire, not health. 
  • Emotional eating disguised as “treat yourself.” 
  • The skills, time, and energy it takes to shop, cook, and clean. 

 

With so many hurdles in the way, it’s no wonder we end up stuck in the same exhausting loop—try, fail, blame ourselves, start again. 

 

Here’s What Actually Works 

 

I can say this with confidence because I’ve tried more than 20 different styles of eating in the name of losing weight and gaining health. 

 

I’ve worked in the organics industry for a decade, studied nutrition, read hundreds of books, worked for a vitamin company, and yet, I still had to figure it out the hard way. (Well, actually, that was the hard way!) 

 

The turning point? 

 

Pure exhaustion. 

 

I was fed up (pun intended) and finally gave the weight-loss industry the finger

 

I stopped believing the marketing, stopped chasing hacks, and started building habits instead: 

  • Eating fresh food I cook myself. 
  • Regular meals that leave me satisfied, not grazing all day. 
  • Rest and downtime to stop impulse eating. 
  • Listening to my body, not just the rules of a plan. 
  • Eliminating most processed foods and all artificial sweeteners. 
  • Choosing high-quality food that makes me feel good long after I’ve eaten it.  


The Real Problem 

 

We aren’t avoiding the hard yards because we’re lazy. 

 

We’re avoiding them because we have no idea what the actual steps are. 

 

It’s a minefield out there. 

 

Look at me…it took me 25 years to figure it out. 

 

Even elite athletes have coaches, not only because it’s hard to push yourself to stay the course. 

 

But coaches have the systems, strategies, and knowledge. They can see what you can’t. 

 

And that’s exactly what we’re missing when it comes to food and health. 

 

You can’t read the label from inside the jar, can you! 

 

My Why 

 

I struggled for decades with the constant mental and emotional tug-of-war with food and between how I wanted to live and what I actually did. 

 

No one taught me how my body, brain, and nervous system worked. No one showed me how to manage my own habits and emotions. 

 

As Jimmy Barnes sings in I’m Still On Your Side: “You can’t win a fight you don’t understand”  

 

That’s why my big dream is for this knowledge to be taught in schools: from preschool to Year 12.

 

Because no one should have to struggle so hard just to change their habits and live a healthy happy life.
