Nothing will ward of death so you might as well be happy ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŽ‰

Dec 23, 2022

This week I’m talking about the concepts and misguided ideas that we have about what constitutes good health

I’m a great observer of people, and I’m lucky to live in the city where there is so many to observe.

I see beautiful slender people, totally buff people, well dressed successful looking people, and I often catch myself thinking; “Don’t they look the picture of success, health and happiness”.

And I think that because really that’s what we’ve been lead to think success, health and happiness looks like; slender and fashionable.

But what is health?

  • Is it the totally buff man or woman coming out of the gym and lighting up a cigarette or sucking on a vape?
  • Is it having the correct BMI even though you have no muscle mass or tone because you don’t work the muscles in your body?
  • Is it living an all organic lifestyle but still bitching, moaning and complaining about other people, politics and life?
  • Is it living the perfect keto life and working out every day that’s achieved through a controlling, forcing, depriving mindset and depriving self of any enjoyment or relaxation?
  • Is it being a positive, happy person and being kind to other people but in the privacy of your own mind you feel resentment, rejection, sadness, unloved or any other of the lower level emotions?

There is no right or wrong actually because there is nothing that will ward off death.

Nothing.

My dad died at age 83 after a life time of bad habits and, other than hard work, no fitness routines. But he was a pacifist, didn’t eat sugar, ate lots of chilli, garlic, rice and fish and had a lot of outside time.

My spiritual mentor died a couple of months after my dad, and he was aged 80. He had lived a clean life with no bad habits and he travelled the world teaching meditation and spirituality. He was a vegetarian and played squash regularly.

I know another man I met through my work in the organics world who lived the full organic life but he died before he was 60’s.

What am I saying here?

As they say, there are 2 things in life that are inevitable, death and taxes. We don’t know how long we have so enjoy every minute as much as you can.

Happiness is a skill, it doesn’t just happen.

Learning how to overcome the obstacles and challenges of life and still be happy, that’s a skill.

And happy people make happy healthy choices.
