What the hell is Katie University?

The other day I popped a post in about what’s gone on in the background to get up my business up and running. The post was about how I needed to learn everything from scratch, basically I put myself through what I laughingly call “Katie University” as I’ve tried to work it all out and put the pieces of the business puzzle together.

And you know what, as I look at that post, I can see that’s exactly how dedicated I was for the 25 years preceding it when I was putting myself through another version of “Katie University” when I was trying to work out how to lose weight and stop relapsing and putting it back on. I wish I’d logged the hours I’d spent reading and listening to audiobooks, CDs, going to workshops, seminars, and taking courses. Not to mention my fetish for constant note-taking and writing down ideas and insights which filled many journals over the years as I tried to piece together the puzzle that is human behaviour. Whilst I don’t know how many hours I invested I did work out some time ago that I invested over $100,000 over that quarter of a century in that search!

I do a lot of networking and it’s common for people to hear that I’m a weight loss coach and think that I sell one of the many multi-level marketing weight loss products. This makes me realise that I could obviously be clearer in the message that I deliver.

I didn’t buy a franchise, or an MLM business, my weight loss solution isn’t based around lotions, potions, pills, powders, shakes or even eating or exercise plans.

I’m not selling a quick fix, a mind hack, or any other “get out of jail free cards” because I know firsthand that if someone has a chronic yo yo dieting history, that if they have a chronic weight problem, then what’s actually needed is real strategies, tools, knowledge, techniques and support to make lasting changes in their weight and health.

What I developed from that quarter of a century of research and applied knowledge is providing a proven process for creating real change in your relationship to food, exercise and yourself. And it works because our relationship to food is intertwined throughout everything we do, in every area of our life.
