Why do women walk away from their careers in their mid 40’s?

Why do we walk away from careers we’ve worked so hard to build?  

 

We’re tapped out, that’s why.  

 

By the time we’ve hit our 40’s, we feel like we’ve gone 20 rounds with Mohammed Ali, when we thought we’d feel like a woman who is succeeding at life

 

We’re mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, depleted.  

 

Our nervous system is shot and we feel more like an empty sack of potatoes than the happy, fulfilled woman, whose proud of her accomplishments, that we were striving for. 

 

How do we navigate the chaos, build our stamina, resilience and happiness in midlife when we: 

  • Aren’t able to pull ourselves out of our slumps 
  • Lead a sedentary life 
  • Work flat out 
  • Feel under constant pressure 
  • Just drink caffeine for breakfast 
  • Don’t have time to meal prep  
  • Buy our lunch most days 
  • Eat it at our desk 
  • Go to bed late 
  • Sleep poorly 
  • Wake up tired 
  • Feel isolated 
  • Don’t feel supported, recognised or validated 
  • And life feels relentless 

 

We’re caught between 2 worlds: the world of being a woman who nurtures her family and all that that entails and the world of a woman who lives in the best of times so far for women, where real options for autonomy and personal achievement are available to us.  

 

We’re trying to juggle it all – parenting, working, maintaining a perfect home, taking care of our loved ones - and it’s leaving us feeling burnt out and questioning everything we’ve worked for.  

 

So we walk away from everything we’ve worked so hard to build because we just can’t see how to make it work without killing ourselves in the process. We feel we have most things in life that we’ve been told will make us happy but we’re so far from happy,  we feel lost and unsure what to do next.  


What we need is a road map back to feeling good again. Not a 10-step life hack, not a bunch of recipes to follow, not another time management tool but an actual step-by-step road map that will take us from where we are to where we want to be; 

 

  • Meaningful connections  
  • Feeling that sense of purpose again 
  • Our health: room to think, time to relax, energy to experience life 
  • Feeling in control of our life and having choices 
  • Feel we can take on the challenges of life and win 
  • Satisfied with ourselves 
  • Confidence, strength, and freedom 

 

We want to love the life we live, and most of all we want to thrive amongst the chaos that is our beautiful, messy, chaotic lives.
