One of the biggest weight loss obstacles we have is moving our body daily.
And the main reason we don’t move our body daily is we simply don’t feel inclined to do it.
So what’s inclination?
It’s a:
❤️ Liking or preference for something
❤️ A desire to do it
❤️ An appetite for it
❤️ An aptitude, a capacity to do it
❤️ A bias towards it
❤️ You derive pleasure from it
❤️ You have a fondness for it
❤️ You feel an attraction to it
❤️ You have a weakness for it, which means, you can’t abstain from it even if you want to!

Here’s why I say there is nothing special about chocolate…or cake, lollies, soft drinks, fast food, or any of the other foods we feel we can't give up.
Unfortunately for us our brain has been marketed too from the day we were born.
Let’s just use chocolate as the example. Now, chocolate has been marketed to us as the be all and end all of sublime and sensual experiences. But really, is it?
It goes in your mouth, it’s there for a few seconds, and then it’s gone, leaving a kind of pasty glugg on your tongue and your taste buds overwhelmed with sweetness.
And as sugar begets sugar, what ends up happening is we just keep filling our mouths with it even though the “joy” (if you can call it that) is short lived.

Well, here we are on the cusp of June and drawing closer to the years mid-point.
Have you achieved what you wanted to achieve so far?
I certainly haven’t. But I’ve been looking at my big picture plan and thinking about what I have and haven’t achieved yet and why that is so that I can either replicate what went well or make a new plan for what didn’t.
If you’re looking ahead to the next 7 months, here are some of the strategies I’m using to make my plan; maybe they will help you too.
Step 1
✔ Know where you are heading to. If you don’t have a destination in mind, any road will get you there. (I think the Cheshire Cat said that?)
Step 2
✔ What can you do right now?
✔ What can’t you do right now?
✔ What resources, skills, and talent do you have available to you?
Step 3
✔ Draw a mud map
✔ Keep it simple
✔ Think big picture in the first instance
✔ Break that down into two, then quarters, then eights – littl...

I’m always on about how small adjustments are easier to implement than 20 pound of change and that small adjustments repeated every day will lead to great change in our weight over time.
But frankly, most people don’t actually believe me, they don’t believe it’s true. Sure, in theory it sounds good, but really, in practice, it seems unlikely.
But let’s look at it from the other side of the coin. How do we gain, 5, 10, 15, 20….or more kg?
We make small adjustments, repeat them daily, and they lead to great change we don’t want.

Too often we go to people to help us with something that we’ve been struggling with only to find that they have no idea, no experience, and no concept of the struggle that we are experiencing, so they can’t really help us.
I remember very clearly talking to a psychologist about 15 years ago, about my weight issues and not being able to control my own eating behaviours. Whilst she was a lovely person and a great therapist, she was a very slender woman who had never had any issues with food or her weight.
I went to her though because she advertised that she ran groups for women who had weight problems. But even though she worked with women like me, I never got the sense that she could relate to me. She certainly seemed to understand the theory of eat...
